Charolais won the Interbreed Champion Pair and the Interbreed champion Female at the 2019 Brisbane Royal Show. The Female was Wakefield Amaze 38 (P) exhibited by Greg and Jenny Frizell, Wakefield stud, Armidale NSW. This female was also the supreme exhibit at the 2019 Pickles Auctions National Showcase in July. Sired by Advance Domino D36 this deep body female had a lovely heifer calf at foot. Judge Roger Evans of Tamworth, NSW focused on structural soundness and length of body in selecting the winner. He first narrowed it down to his top eight of Hereford, Red Angus, Brangus, Droughtmaster, Square Meater, Santa Gertrudis, Charolais and Simmental.In his top four the Red Angus, Hereford and Limousin also got a look in but ultimately Wakefield Amaze 38 triumphed.

This cow then paired with 4 Ways North Star (P) exhibited by the Whitechurch Family, Inverell NSW to take the Interbreed Pair. Charolais have dominated the Interbreed Pair at the Ekka over the years. A 23-month-old bull has claimed glory at the Royal Queensland Show as the Charolais grand champion bull. It was 4 Ways North Star, exhibited by David and Lynette Whitechurch, 4 Ways Charolais, Inverell, NSW who impressed judge Wayne York to be named senior champion bull before going on to take the top accolade.Mr York praised junior champion bull Tookawhile Picadilly Punch, exhibited by the Nicholls family, Kyogle, NSW but ultimately chose the older bull for the top gong. “This senior champion bull that extra softness in this fellow is just impeccable and a tremendous amount of bone and beef capacity and weight for age,” he said. A son of Moongool Kakadu from 4 Ways Avoca, 4 Ways North Star weighed in at 1072kg, with an average daily gain of 1.56kg, P8 and rib fat for 10mm and 8mm and an eye muscle area of 146sq cm.

Moongool won the most successful exhibitor award. The Prices collected honours including junior champion heifer, Mongool Fanmail 10 and the reserve junior champion heifer, reserve senior champion bull and reserve senior champion female.
