Sydney Royal cattle numbers returned to normal in 2022 and Charolais once again featured in the Interbreed awards. Judging Charolais this year was Scott Myers from Myers Angus at The Rock in New South Wales. Junior champion heifer came from the largest class of the day with Venturon Livestock’s Venturon Naughty But Nice S32 (P) winning the Female 12 to 14 month class. This heifer is one of the oldest Turnbull Duty Free 358D (P) calves in Australia. Reserve junior champion heifer was Wakefield Amaze 82 (P) exhibited by Greg and Jenny Frizell, Wakefield Charolais, Armidale NSW. Senior and Grand champion cow was Winchester Daisy Duke N16E (P) exhibited by Gavin and Kristie O’Brien, Orange NSW. This female won the Cow over 36 months’ class and paraded with a well-developed heifer calf at foot sired by Venturon Maximum Impact (P).
Judge Myers commented, “this is an exceptional cow, to have a cow with that much power, to have that beautiful front end with a heifer calf at foot with the same femininity it’s hard to find that combination in one animal. I feel this cow would be an awesome bull breeder, she has it all”. At the conclusion of Charolais judging Scott Myers awarded this cow Supreme Charolais Exhibit. In the Urquhart Trophy, Daisy Duke won the Interbreed Champion Female. (See main picture)
