Strong buying interest from several states resulted in a successful female and genetics sale for Graham and Katrina Blanch, Charnelle Charolais, and 14 invited vendors at Toowoomba on Saturday.
The offering of 71 stud female lots sold to a top of $14,000 and averaged $4320, with a clearance of 87 per cent, while four bulls topped at $6000 and averaged $4750 for a 100pc clearance.
A flush-only lot sold for $4000 and 45 embryo lots sold to an average of $573, while 1056 straws of semen averaged $58 per straw.
Topping the sale was Charnelle Elegance 16 (AI) (ET) (P), a led show heifer by the 2015 Canadian Agribition Champion, CML Distinction, and pregnancy tested in calf to LT Ledger.
Shown in Brisbane for a third placing, the heifer was purchased by Jonathan and Gaye Weeks of Warilla Charolais, Echuca, Victoria.
Mr Blanch entered this special female to celebrate the sale’s 10th anniversary, and 20 years of continuous selling in Toowoomba.

Mr Weeks said she was very well bred, with terrific bone, softness and was still very feminine. He said she would now be prepared for the Ekka Charolais World Congress show in August.
This year, Mr Blanch included a show as part of the sale, with 11 lots shown (four joined and seven unjoined) and these lots averaged $6409. Glenlea Estella 15th (P) (R/F) won the show, judged by Scott Freeman, Toowoomba.
Glenlea Estella 15th (P) (R/F), an unjoined led show heifer, went on to sell for $11,000 to Wildes Pastoral, Aberdeen, New South Wales.
The sale was a major reduction for Ron and Wendy Johnstone, Milford Charolais, who sold a total of 36 from 42 offered to average $3840.
Topping the cow market was Palgrove Bronwin K367E (AI) (P) for $7500, purchased by Brendan and Marnie Scheiwe, Tallegalla.
Roderick Binny, Blake Munro, Elders, and James Dockrill.
Tania and Nicole Hartwig, Tanic Charolais, paid the $6000 top bull money for Palgrove Leader L204E (PS) offered by Milford Charolais.
Tony Farrell, Calmview Charolais, Fernleigh, NSW, purchased five live lots to average $4600. Wildes Pastoral, Aberdeen, NSW, purchased a total of five live lots to average $6950 and two semen packages to average $1625
Andrew Meara, Elders Stud Stock, said buyers had travelled from as far away as Charters Towers, and interstate buyers were active from Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and NSW, making for a strong sale.
Mr Blanch said he was very pleased with the overall sale, especially the genetic lots.”With a very diverse range of genetics, they were very well accepted by the stud breeders and this made it an outstanding success,” Mr Blanch said.
