On Saturday July 28th the Mercer family, Kandanga Valley, conducted their 15th annual on property bull sale and celebrated 30 years of stud breeding, both Charolais & Charbray. Top priced Charolais bull Kandanga Valley Malik sold to Beaumont Grazing Co of Taroom for $12,000.  This outstanding young polled, red factor sire by Kandanga Valley Jericho (P/Sc) weighed in at 1020kgs, 12/12 mm fat, 140 EMA, 5% IMF and a 41 scrotal at just 22 months of age. Averages for Charolais bulls sold were 22 months of age, weight  756kgs, fats of 9 & 7mm, eye muscle area 132, IMF of 4.3 and scrotal 38.9cm.

Second top price was the very powerful son of Baroola Ed (P) in Lot 5 Kandanga Valley Mogul (poll/scurr) selling to the Franz family, Manumbar for $11,000. $10,000 was reached twice for Lot 3 selling to Woonan Grazing, Sarina and Lot 7 to Delcosta P/L, Linville. $8,500 was paid later in the catalogue for Lot 31 selling to young up and coming local graziers Rowan & Ashleigh Kahler, Kandanga. Bulk buyers on the day were Woonan Grazing, Sarina, purchasing 4 head, Eskdale Cattle Co, Toogoolawah, G&K McPherson,Kilcoy,  and Ray Smoothy, Manumbar,  purchasing 3 each. Overall 38 Charolais sold from 45 offered to average $5526.  39 of 40 Charbrays sold to average $5667.
